Zen Perry - Host
Zen’s first foray into journalism began when he covered several shows in Hollywood as a student at Musician’s Institute. After graduating at the top of his class and relocating to Santa Cruz, CA, Zen founded the Moonlight Collective publication featuring interviews with a variety of artists - all while working as a professional drummer, recording & performing with local bands including Rye Dawn, Lauren Wahl & Simply Put, Bearhead Tallboy, BIGRIG, and King Tide.
In July 2021, after a year of being unable to consistently perform due to the pandemic, Zen’s passion for art and desire to provide an inspirational spark to his friends and fellow artists led him to begin the Breaking North Podcast. By October 2022, the newly renamed Zen Perry Project branched into radio, airing interviews and spotlighting upcoming concerts on Santa Cruz’s KPCR 101.9FM.
In February 2023, Zen relocated himself (and the show) to Bushwick. When he’s not interviewing artists Zen can be found doing freelance audio-engineering work for theatres on/off Broadway and performing drums with local artists like Kate Brunotts.

When he’s not booking guests or trying not to forget to update the website, Michael works as a Research and Data Associate for a Criminal Justice Non-Profit in NYC.
